This wedding was IN the water. When Laura and Ricardo called us up and asked if we'd meet them in Isla Mujeres to see if we'd be interested in shooting their unique water wedding, I was like, be there in 5 seconds! When we met they handed us a bottle of Tito's from their home state of Texas and I knew we had our people. They described all their awesome ideas, and we were all in! The only problem... we had to wait a year!
When the week finally came, we had fun shooting the rehearsal dinner and meeting their family and friends first. We started the next day early , at about 6:30am because their ceremony was at 10am. Normally, I would never, ever suggest a wedding starting at 10am on the beach unless you took life insurance policies out on your guests first (that's a joke)...because it's dangerously hot... but this wedding, it was different. We got to enjoy the day in the beautiful, cooling, turquoise waters of Isla Mujeres, and it was a dream.
Everyone said Laura was a master party planner and it's true, she didn't miss a beat! From their perfect, beachy, boho attire, to their unique wedding ideas, all the little details and decor, to the beach BBQ that followed and ended in a beach party- It was awesome from top to bottom! We even did a special bridal trash the dress session 2 days later, which I'll show soon!
(For photographers, we had our sweet, Ikelite underwater DSLR housing with a dome for split shots. I was really hoping to catch some fish in the shots, but with so many guests in the water it brought the sand up and scared the fish away. But that's ok- no complaints here!)
